Account and data deletion
Option 1 — Delete from inside the app (recommended)
The fastest way to delete your account is directly from the CHAiTS app:
- Open the CHAiTS app and sign in to your account.
- Go to Settings.
- Tap Account and then Delete account.
- Confirm your choice when the app asks you to.
From that moment, your account enters a 30-day grace period: it is deactivated (no longer usable or visible to other users) but you can still cancel the deletion by simply signing in again within this period. After 30 days, the deletion becomes permanent and irreversible.
Option 2 — Request by email (if you cannot access the app)
If you cannot access the app (for example, you lost access to your login method), you can request deletion by writing to:
In your request, include the email or username associated with your account so we can identify it. We will reply confirming that the deletion process has started.
What gets deleted
When the 30-day grace period ends, the following is permanently deleted:
- Your profile (email, username, display name, photo, date of birth).
- Your phone number, if you had added one.
- All messages from your conversations, both with CHAiTers and with other people.
- Voice messages and audio files linked to your account.
- The CHAiTers you created and their memory.
- Your personal AI keys (BYOK), if you had saved any.
- Posts you published in the Feed and related interactions (comments, reactions).
- Your device tokens used for push notifications.
- Any other personal data linked to your account that does not fall under the exceptions listed below.
What may be retained, and for how long
For legal obligations or legitimate security interests, some minimal data may be retained even after the account is deleted, but always within the strict limits of what is necessary:
- Billing data (e.g. receipts, amounts paid): retained for the period required by applicable tax law, even after account deletion. This never includes your payment card details, which never pass through our servers.
- Minimal anonymized security logs (e.g. for abuse/fraud investigations already underway at the time of the request): kept for a limited period and then automatically deleted.
- Aggregated and anonymous data that no longer allows you to be identified, possibly used for general statistics about the service.
Everything else — including the content of your conversations — is permanently deleted and cannot be recovered in any way after the grace period ends.
