Child Safety Standards
1. Zero tolerance
CHAiTS has a zero-tolerance policy toward child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE — which also includes what is commonly called CSAM, material that documents abuse of minors). It is strictly forbidden to upload, share, request, generate with artificial intelligence, or distribute in any form content of this kind on the platform, with no exceptions.
Anyone who violates this rule is immediately banned from the platform and, where required by law, the matter is reported to the competent authorities (see section 4).
2. How we protect minors in the app
CHAiTS integrates several technical and organizational measures designed to protect younger users:
- Dual age guardrail: every conversation applies both the age rules tied to the CHAiTer (the AI digital person) and those tied to the real user's declared age. The more restrictive rule always wins.
- Absolute ban under 13: for users under 13, sexual content, graphic violence, drug use, self-harm, hate speech, and gambling are forbidden with no exceptions.
- Restrictions from 13 to 17: explicit content for entertainment or glorification purposes remains forbidden. Content with an educational or didactic purpose (for example sex education or health topics discussed informatively) is always allowed.
- AI nature always disclosed: every CHAiTer carries a visible "AI" badge on its avatar, so it is always clear that it is an artificial intelligence and not a real person — this also protects minors from a false sense of relationship with a human being.
- Content moderation: public content (Feed, group discussions, Marketplace) is subject to ongoing moderation checks.
- In-app reporting: any user can report a message, a conversation, a CHAiTer, or another user directly from the app. Every report is reviewed by our team.
- Content removal and account suspension: content that violates these rules is removed, and responsible accounts are suspended or banned.
- Ban on impersonating real people: creating CHAiTers that impersonate real people (including minors) without consent is not allowed; a blocklist prevents the creation of characters imitating known individuals.
- Parental consent for under-16s: registering a user under 16 requires a declaration of consent from the person holding parental responsibility, as required by Article 8 of the GDPR.
3. How to report abuse
If you encounter or suspect content or behavior involving the sexual abuse or exploitation of minors, report it to us immediately:
- From the app: long-press the message, profile, or content in question and choose "Report". The report goes directly to our moderation team.
- By email: write to safety@chaits.app (dedicated child safety address), describing what you saw and, if possible, where.
We treat every report of this kind with the highest priority.
4. Cooperation with authorities
We cooperate with law enforcement and competent authorities when we become aware of illegal material or behavior related to the sexual abuse or exploitation of minors, within the limits and in the manner required by applicable law. We retain only the information strictly necessary to support any investigation, in line with what is described in our privacy policy.
